The Kasato Maru Project won second place in Nissan's academic competition The Most Niponic Painting. The contest consisted of proposing a new paint job for the Nissan KICKS to commemorate one hundred and ten years of Japanese immigration to Brazil.
Inspired by the ship of the same name, Kasato Maru was extremely important during the Japanese immigration to Brazil. It was he who, in 1908, transported the first immigrants to our land.
The design of the stickers was primarily inspired by the colors of the ship. The wavy shape refers to the long way navigated in the open sea and in the brushstrokes of Japanese writing.
